Living with and after cancer
A cancer diagnosis often turns your life completely upside down. The illness can throw you off balance and bring a great deal of uncertainty. During medical treatment, the focus is usually on physical recovery. At the same time, the emotional and mental impact can be significant.
As a psychosocial therapist and hypnotherapist, I offer support to people living with or after cancer, as well as to their loved ones. I guide people through different phases of the illness and/or grieving process. In a safe and open environment, there is space for everything that is present. Together we work on restoring calm, confidence, and resilience. Every situation is unique, which is why the guidance is tailored to your personal situation, needs, and pace.
My approach
My way of working is integrative and combines different forms of psychosocial support, such as:
Medical hypnosis (also used in hospitals), including pain modulation techniques, visualization, and guided imagery.
- Heart coherence, mindfulness, polyvagal theory, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises.
- Various forms of trauma processing, such as internal dialogues, inner child work (using timeline methods, three-point dissociation, parts work such as IFS, or regression) or EMDR.
- Systemic work / individual family constellations, partner and family sessions.
- Cognitive behavioral training and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
During the sessions, we explore different aspects of your experience together: feelings, thoughts, behavior, physical signals, and questions of meaning. The aim is to create more calm, clarity, and space—so that you can take new steps or let go of what needs to be released at this time.

You are welcome in my practice in Driebergen-Rijsenburg, located in a beautiful historic building. If desired, sessions can also take place at your location or online.
Many health insurance providers partly reimburse this type of guidance through supplementary insurance. The amount of reimbursement varies per insurer, and no referral from a general practitioner is required.
I am affiliated with the NVPO (Dutch Association for Psychosocial Oncology) and the NVBH (Dutch Association of Hypnotherapists). You can also find my details in the Dutch Cancer Referral Guide and the Oncology Care Network Zuidoost Utrecht.
