Personal Mind-Body Group Sessions
What if persistent symptoms don’t call for yet another diagnosis, but for a different approach?
The Mind-Body perspective invites you to understand physical signals in connection with emotions, stress, and beliefs. This integrative view can create space for recovery, especially when symptoms have been present for a long time.
What Is a Mind-Body Approach?
The Mind-Body approach focuses on the interaction between the brain, the body, and emotional awareness. Prolonged stress can manifest physically, even when there is no structural damage.
Within this approach, you will learn to:
- Recognize the connection between thoughts, emotions, and physical responses
- Increase your emotional awareness
- Notice bodily signals earlier and learn how to regulate them
- Actively support recovery by developing new neural pathways
An important foundation of this approach is the understanding that the brain is changeable (neuroplasticity). That offers perspective and hope.
Why Working in a Group Can Be Helpful
Human beings are inherently social. Research in social psychology and neuroscience shows that connection and acknowledgment have a regulating effect on the nervous system. Safe contact reduces stress responses and increases resilience.
Peer support groups have demonstrated for decades that recovery is strengthened through recognition, shared experiences, and mutual support.
In a group:
- You experience recognition in each other’s processes
- You are invited to reflect on your own patterns
- Others can help you see blind spots
- Motivation grows through shared commitment
A group offers both structure and social support. This can deepen and strengthen your individual recovery process.
Clear Structure and Safe Guidance
The Mind-Body group sessions take place in a small setting of up to six participants. We work within clear frameworks:
- A structured format for each session
- Space for theory, reflection, and practical exercises
- Confidentiality and respect as foundational agreements
As a therapist and experiential expert, Mirjam Verschoor carefully guides the process. Safety, autonomy, and professional support are central.
The group is accessible, but not without commitment. Participants actively work on their own recovery. The sessions are intended for people who want to explore, in an approachable way, how they can exert more influence over their own healing process.
Working with Practical Exercises
During the program, you will work independently at home with the book Unlearn Your Pain by Howard Schubiner
or via the e-learning developed by Stichting Emovere in collaboration with Therapieland.
Stichting Emovere contributes to a paradigm shift in how we view health and well-being. More information about this foundation: https://stichtingemovere.nl/
Both the book and the e-learning offer theory as well as practical Mind-Body exercises that support recovery from persistent or medically unexplained symptoms. The combination of self-study and group guidance provides depth and integration.
