Support During Cancer
A cancer diagnosis brings profound changes—physically, emotionally, and mentally. In my practice, I support people with cancer in different phases of the illness. The guidance is always tailored to your personal situation and serves as a complement to regular medical treatment. The focus is not on the disease itself, but on you as a person and how you navigate everything that comes your way.
We work together, at your pace, with attention to both the body and the mental and emotional impact of the process. Trance is used as a tool to support relaxation, stability, and resilience. Hypnotherapy makes use of a state of focused attention, also known as trance. In this state, you remain consciously aware, while space is created to relate differently to stress, anxiety, and physical tension.
Medical hypnotherapy is not an alternative approach, but a proven complementary treatment that is increasingly applied within hospitals and specialist healthcare settings. This was reaffirmed during the Medical Hypnosis Conference 2025 at Amsterdam UMC, which I als attended. At this conference, scientific research, clinical expertise, and practical experience came together.
Both new and existing studies were presented, including research from oncology. These findings once again highlight the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in reducing anxiety, influencing pain perception, and supporting emotional processing. Within regular healthcare, medical hypnotherapy is gaining growing recognition as a valuable, evidence-based intervention—carefully applied, goal-oriented, and without side effects.
Support through hypnotherapy (and, where appropriate, EMDR) may focus on:
- reducing anxiety related to medical examinations and treatments
- supporting inner restlessness, tension, and physical discomfort
- strengthening focus on personal values and a sense of agency
- guidance in acceptance, meaning-making, and coping with change
In my practice, I support individuals facing major challenges, including preparation for medical procedures or seeking greater calm, confidence, and resilience. Medical hypnotherapy aligns seamlessly with these needs: goal-directed imagery, carried out by the individual themselves, with demonstrated effects on relaxation, pain perception, and emotional balance.
You do not have to go through this alone. The support offered is there to accompany you, alongside everything else already in place.
